At SwingPals, we are always looking for ways to grow and increase our impact—and 2025 is already shaping up to be an incredible year! This week, our after-school golf practice sessions officially teed off at Topgolf in Durham and we welcomed two interns to the SwingPals family.
A Temporary Move With Big Plans Ahead
Our longtime home, Hillandale Golf Course, is about to undergo a $1 million renovation that will expand the driving range and practice areas. These enhancements will allow SwingPals to bring golf to even more Durham Public Schools (DPS) students, helping us fulfill our mission to empower young people through the game of golf. While construction is underway, Topgolf has stepped in as our temporary home, and the energy has been incredible! Students are enjoying the unique facilities, and the excitement around this transition has been contagious.
Highlights From the First Week at Topgolf
Our first week at Topgolf was full of learning, growth, and fun. Here are a few key moments:
Coaching in Action: Students received hands-on instruction to refine their swings and build their confidence.
New Faces: We’re thrilled to welcome two new interns, Jimena & Hannah, from Duke University, who joined us this week and are already making a positive impact.
What’s Next?: Once daylight hours increase, we will begin offering on-course play opportunities for students at 6 PM, giving them the chance to experience the game in an even more dynamic setting.
A Bigger Impact for SwingPals
The renovations at Hillandale Golf Course signal a turning point for SwingPals. With expanded facilities, we will be able to reach more students, create new opportunities for learning and growth, and deepen our connection with the community.
We are immensely grateful to our students, coaches, interns, and supporters for making this transition seamless. This is just the beginning of SwingPals growing its impact and creating meaningful change in 2025.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this exciting journey.
